An eerie subterranean view of the main streambed in the Big Room. This photograph was taken by Jim Epler at 2:25 PM on 11/26/2010 in Carlsbad, NM at Carlsbad Caverns. It is cataloged under the terms nature, travel, landmarks and parks & fountains in this photography database.

This image was recorded on digital media using a Canon Digital Rebel xTi camera with a Canon 17-40mm f/4 L lens stopped to f 4 and exposed at a speed of 32/10 sec.

Photographer Comments: I did not have a tripod with me because I was in a cast in crutches during this visit. So, I had to balance my camera on the handrail and hold it VERY steady. Unfortunately, I only came away with a few sharp pictures including this one.

Additionally, Jim thought of search words that someone might use to locate this picture including the terms popcorn, caverns, caves, stalactite, sediment and stalagmites, so he included these on this page as a service to himself and others who would like to download this free photograph!
