| A view of two gentlemen enjoying beverages and each other's company near the National Mall in Washington, DC. This photograph captured in September, 1999 was taken by Jim Epler in the summer in Washington, DC a refreshment stand near the Mall. The image was exposed on 35mm Kodak Tri-X 400 black & white film stock using a Pentax Asahi Spotmatic II camera with a Asahi Pentax 135mm f/2.5 lens. Photographer Comments: When I saw these two guys hanging out I knew it would make a great photograph. I love this picture because of the pure simplicity in its composition and form. Two buddies drinking beers, telling tales and enjoying each other's company. I love the REFRESHMENTS sign, the cigarette dangling from the one guy's hand, the fact that the other guy is munching on a toothpick... if they weren't at this stand they would have been at the races or catching a ballgame. I was actually a bit surprised when they agreed to let me photograph them. I snapped a half dozen or so pictures and they were all good! |
